THEA Education Partners know that students who have worked hard to accomplish expertise in any of the fields of art are smart, motivated, flexible and think well on their feet. Studies show that students who spend at least three hours day, three days a week involved in artistic activities (art, singing, dancing, writing, etc.) are generally excellent students because the process in these activities teaches work ethic, completing a complicated project, how to deal with failure and thinking outside the box.
The educational institutions listed below offer additional scholarship money to any THEA winner accepted as a full-time student. Many of these schools repeat the scholarship for four years as long as the student’s grade point stays at the required level or above.
Here is the way it works:
Let’s say THEA’s 10th place winner who receives a $2,000 one year scholarship applies and is accepted at UALR. That student is awarded $3,500 per year for four years. Assuming he or she completes the four years meeting the grade point threshold they will receive a total of $16,000 in scholarships.
This leverages the Business and Family Partner donations $4 to $5 for every dollar donated.
In the first eight years the THEA Foundation has awarded approximately $300,000 in scholarships and our Education Partners have awarded approximately $700,000.
