Thea Foundation is excited to announce Into the Blue: An Evening with President Bill Clinton, an inaugural fundraiser to be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at the Clinton Presidential Library. This intimate evening will celebrate the work Thea Foundation has accomplished in its 13 years of advocating the importance of the arts in the education of Arkansas’s youth and showcase the talents of several young people who have won scholarships from the Foundation. Into the Blue is presented by Chip and Cindy Murphy, of Little Rock, and co-chaired by Dennis and Gayla Jungmeyer, of North Little Rock.

The evening will begin with an exclusive cocktail reception. It will be followed by dinner in the Great Hall, where President Clinton will address the crowd and the scholarship winners will take turns performing.

“Since 2003, President Clinton has graciously hosted this private fundraising dinner in Washington DC,” says Paul Leopoulos, executive director of Thea Foundation. “He has been a dear, lifelong friend and very supportive of what the Foundation has accomplished. However, over the years, many local patrons and friends have expressed interest in attending this event. The board and I felt that now was an ideal time to make the transition to Arkansas and allow other supporters to take part in what will be an amazing evening.”

The evening’s entertainment includes performances by Thea scholarship winners Jacob Watson, of Wynne, who performed in “Violet” on Broadway ; Katie Emerson, a Jonesboro native who has traveled the world doing musical theater and recently starred as Peter Pan at New Stage Theatre in Jackson, Mississippi; Allison Stearns, a Little Rock native who has traveled the world dancing, notably in The Magic of Saipan, a magic and illusion show on the island of Saipan; Alex Zhang, a Little Rock native and slam poet now attending Yale University; and Elijah Ash, a Little Rock vocal performer who recorded on the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus and now attends Ouachita Baptist University.

Proceeds from Into the Blue will benefit Thea Foundation’s many programs that ensure students and teachers across Arkansas have access to the arts. As of August 2015, Thea Foundation will have awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to 278 Arkansas high school seniors, distributed almost $1.5 million in art supplies to underfunded schools and implemented many programs that provide creative experiences for Arkansas's youth.
